Luminar Noiseless AI

In this Luminar Neo Noiseless AI Review, we assess Skylum Software‘s new AI photo noise reduction extension for Luminar Neo. And like most AI-powered noise reduction applications, Noiseless AI is vastly superior to traditional photo denoisers as it can remove noise from your photo while leaving detail intact.

And while Noiseless AI falls short of the best noise reduction applications you can buy today, its integration with a full-blown photo editor in Luminar Neo enables you to contain your photo editing workflow within a single system. Is that enough? Let’s find out if Luminar Neo Noiseless AI is worth your coin. Jump to Conclusion

What is Luminar Neo Noiseless AI

Noiseless AI is an AI-powered photo denoiser for Luminar Neo and part of the Luminar Neo Extension pack. As an extension, you need to own a copy of Luminar Neo to use Noiseless AI. For more information, visit my comprehensive Luminar Neo Review.

Noiseless AI offers precise control over noise reduction.

Like other AI-based noise reduction applications, Noiseless AI analyzes your photo and removes noise while leaving your photo’s detail intact. In contrast, traditional noise reduction cannot tell noise from detail and reliably removes both.

As a result, Noiseless AI is likely to be far superior to the sort of traditional detail-sapping noise reduction algorithms built into your camera and smartphone.

How much does Noiseless AI cost?

Noiseless AI costs $49. Alternatively, you can buy Luminar Neo Noiseless AI as part of the Luminar Neo Extension Pack, which presently costs $229. Alternatively, you can subscribe monthly or yearly for just a few dollars and receive Luminar Neo for free. Check Prices.

As the name suggests, you must own Luminar Neo to access the Luminar Neo Extension Pack and, thus, Noiseless AI. Currently, there are 6 extensions, including HDR Merge, Noiseless AI, Upscale AI, SuperSharp AI, Focus Stacking, and Background Removal AI.

How to use Luminar Neo Noiseless AI

Luminar Noiseless AI is straightforward to use. Launch your photo into edit mode and access Noiseless AI from the Tools menu.

Noiseless AI includes three noise reduction presets, Low, Middle, and High, with Luminar Neo recommending which preset will best serve your photo.

Of course, you can ignore Luminar Neo and dial preferred adjustments. Currently, you have four sliders for adjusting Luminosity Denoise, Color Denoise, Details, and Sharpness. Simply slide each until you like what you see.

Is Luminar Noiseless AI any good?

Luminar Neo Noiseless AI is easy to use and effective at removing noise. At launch, Noiseless AI was pretty slow and took a long time to render an image and denoise your photo.

However, Noiseless AI received a massive speed boost in version 1.4.2. and now runs at a similar speed to its competition and faster than many when it comes to panning around and zooming into your photo.

As for noise reduction, the quality is good, and the detail retention is high. As a result, you can dial Noiseless AI to its maximum settings without negatively impacting your image.

Yet Noiseless AI falls short of some competing products’ ability to sharpen and enhance your photo’s detail beyond what’s present in the original image. As a result, photos processed in competing products can look cleaner, sharper, and more detailed than those processed with Noiseless AI.

However, Skylum Software has announced a new extension, SuperSharp AI making noise reduction and sharpening in Luminar Neo, two distinct features. In other words, we must judge the combined effect of Noiseless AI and SuperSharp AI.

Nevertheless, you might prefer to use Noiseless AI simply because it’s integrated with Luminar Neo, and there’s great efficiency in containing your photo editing workflow to a single application.

Noiseless AI Compared

Let’s see how Noiseless AI compares against the best AI noise reduction applications – Topaz Denoise AI and ON1 NoNoise AI. I plan to retest NoNoise AI once the SuperSharp AI extension is released. Also, see Best Noise Reduction Software

Luminar Noiseless vs Topaz Denoise AI

With its five different AI models, Topaz Denoise AI is a spectacular noise-reduction application, and the way it preserves and enhances detail is stunning. Plus, Denoise AI comes with a simple but effective masking tool for applying noise reduction to select areas of your photo.

Denoise AI – Read Topaz Denoise AI Review

Both Topaz Denoise AI and Noiseless AI take their time to apply noise reduction to your image. And both take a moment to rerender the image as you zoom and pan around your photo.

Of course, NoNoise AI is more convenient since it’s already built into Luminar Neo. But if all you care about is applying the best noise reduction, Topaz Denoise AI exceeds expectations. Read Topaz Denoise AI Review

Luminar Noiseless vs NoNoise AI

ON1 NoNoise AI is almost as good as Topaz Denoise AI, better than Noiseless AI, and considerably faster than both. Furthermore, NoNoise has some interesting peripheral features, including AI masking and subject removal.

Like Denoise AI, NoNoise AI is an external app and, therefore, less convenient to Luminar Neo users than Noiseless AI. But if you want great noise reduction and swift performance – you’ll love ON1 NoNoise AI. Read ON1 NoNoise AI Review for more information.

Conclusion

Noiseless AI finally brings AI-powered noise reduction to Luminar Neo. And thankfully, it’s both effective and easy to use.

Outgunned

However, when we judge NoNoise AI in isolation (excluding the upcoming SuperSharp AI Extension), better noise reduction is available elsewhere so long as you’re willing to suffer the inconvenience of using a separate application. While Noiseless AI does a good job removing noise, it does not enhance detail like Topaz Denoise AI. Nor can it match the outright speed and quality of ON1 NoNoise AI.

We’ll need to revisit this once SuperSharp AI is released, as the combined effect of both extensions could present vastly superior results.

Is Noiseless AI worth it

At $49, Noiseless AI is cheaper than Topaz Denoise AI and ON1 NoNoise AI 2023. In terms of performance, it’s pretty good value – especially if you’re already part of the Luminar Neo ecosystem.

Overall

Noiseless AI is a good, rather than excellent, noise-reduction application that might well be waiting on the upcoming SuperSharp AI to become competitive with the best. But for now, if you care for nothing but the very best noise reduction – Noiseless AI is good, but there are better options elsewhere.
